Aaron’s Dream Team Get Top-10 Finish in
Opener
Tim Bainey Jr. and #00 Aaron’s Dream Team started off the 2008 Hooter’s
ProCup Season with a 10th place finish in the “Miller Lite 250”
at South Boston Speedway Saturday Night.
“It was a pretty good night for the Dream Team,” said Tim Jr. “We were fast
all weekend and it was great to get a top-10 finish in our first outing.”
Tim Jr. turned the 11th quickest lap in Friday’s practice
session, but saw his shot at a top-10 qualifying position slip as the #00
Dream Machine pushed up the track on his 2nd qualifying lap.”
“We had a really good lap going, but I got on the brakes a little too hard
entering turn 3 and skated the front tires a little,” said Tim Jr. “ I felt
we had a really good shot at a top-5 spot and just tried to get a little too
much out of the Dream Machine.”
He would qualify the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine 23rd for the
Event.
“We wanted to be patient through the early part of the race,” said Crew
Chief Dan Bainey. “Timmy is really good at just letting things unfold and
keeping the car clean, and with the way things go at this track… we figured
that would be important tonight.”
The strategy paid off… when the night was over they had spent over 70 laps
running in the top-5, and the last 140 inside the top-10.
“We had a really good car,” said Tim Jr. “It was a little tight, but good
enough to run with the lead pack. We got stuck on the outside while passing
some lapped cars about 5 laps before the last caution flag and fell from 5th
to 10th in about 3 laps, and then the rain came.”
“But overall… it was a really great start for the #00 Aaron’s Dream Team,”
Tim Jr. continued, “And I couldn’t be more excited as we head into the 2008
season with the team we have together.”
