Tim Bainey Jr. and the
Aaron’s Dream Team Have Impressive 7th Place Run at Mansfield
Motorsports Park
Tim Bainey Jr. and #00 Aaron’s Dream Team had another great run this weekend
at Mansfield Motorsports Park in the Greased Lightning 250.
“It was a great night for the Aaron’s Dream Team,” said Tim Jr. “I think we
had a car that could win right up until the last 40 or 50 laps when a
suspension mount broke.”
Tim Jr. looked strong all day in the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine. The team was
4th on the practice charts for the first hour and forty-five
minutes of practice. They backed that up with a very solid qualifying run,
less than a tenth of a second from being inside the top-5.
“We really have this Dream Machine dialed in,” said crew chief Dan Bainey.
“Both of our cars ran great tonight, with 60 to go I was pretty sure we had
everyone but the 73 car covered. The top 5 or 6 were bumper to bumper and
you could see how much better our car was working than the others.”
It was pretty clear to see the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine was one of the best
cars in the field from the drop of the green flag. After pitting early with
a lot of the leaders, Tim Jr. would quickly work his way up inside the
top-10.
As he was working his way up through the field, his teammate Brett Butler in
the #99 Verve Energy Drink car – was busy leading the race.
“Brett was really strong,” added crew chief Dan Bainey. “He took the lead
and really ran great, it’s too bad his clutch went because we definitely had
2 top-10 cars.”
As the race moved on, so did the Aaron’s Dream Machine. Tim Jr. continued
working through the field and soon was inside the top-5, where he decided to
fall in line with the lead pack.
“The Dream Machine was awesome all night,” said Tim Jr. “We got inside the
top-5 with 75 laps left and I could tell we were better than the guys in
front of us – except maybe the 73 car.”
“They were all racing really hard, but I could pull right up on them at
anytime - so we just decided to let them have at it for awhile and was going
to save our stuff until the end.”
“Things were going great,” said Crew Chief Dan Bainey. “The other guys were
slowing up and Timmy was right there. It’s too bad the mount broke. We were
still really good, but not enough to pass the rest of them. But still – he
did a great job hanging on to it and we’ll take a 7th place
finish.”
“It was a tough way to end, but it was another solid run,” said Tim Jr. “The
Dream Team is really on top of things right now, and we are looking forward
to the next few events.”
With their 2nd top-10 run in the last 3 events, Tim Jr. and the
Aaron’s Dream Team moved back up to 9th in the Championship Point
Standings.
You can watch the Greased Lightning 250 next Monday June 23rd at
