Tim Bainey Jr. and the #00 Aaron’s Dream Team Finish Inside the Top-20 of Championship Points for 3rd
Consecutive Year
Tim Jr. and the #00 Aaron’s
Dream Team brought home a 14th place finish during the “Miller
Lite 250” at South Boston Speedway, securing them with a 16th
place finish in the Championship Point Standings – their 3rd
Top-20 Points Finish in the last 3 years.
“I’m just proud to have the
guys with me that make up our Aaron’s Dream Team,” said Tim Jr. “They go
through it all with me, they give up a lot of their time, and they really
work hard both on and off the track for us – we get along great and we
always have fun with things."
“I also want to thank
Aaron’s for doing everything they have with us, it sure makes it a lot
better for our team when you have the support of such a great group of
people like Mr. Loudermilk, Ken Butler, Rich, Mark, Travis, and everyone we
get to work with at Aaron’s."
The #00 Dream Machine was
fast off the truck. Tim Jr. and the team spent more time working to get the
car comfortable than fast, and it would payoff soon after the green flag
dropped.
Starting from the 22nd
position, Tim Jr. and the #00 Dream Machine would slowly work their way
through the field in the early stages. Tim Jr. made his way inside the
top-15 before the Dream Team would bring him to pit road for tires and fuel
just after the 50 lap mark.
“We were planning to pit
early and work the track position game for later in the race,” said crew
chief Dan Bainey. “The Dream Machine was really strong in the first 50 laps,
we considered letting him out there, but decided to stick with our plan.”
After the pit stop, Tim Jr.
would radio the crew of a handling problem with the car. The team pitted
under the next 2 cautions to make adjustments, but finally came to the
conclusion that it was something with the new tires – so they brought him
back one more time to switch back to the old tires.
“Something was just wrong
with that set of tires,” said crew chief Dan Bainey. “I really don’t know
what it was or how it happened, but once we put the old tires back on – the
Dream Machine was headed right back to the front again.”
Tim Jr. and the Dream
Machine dodged a number of close calls on the track as they made their way
through the field. They were closing in on the top-10 when Tim Jr. slowed
for a spin on the backstretch, he stopped, but as the cars behind him tried
to stop he was caught up in the melee.
“We got the whole side tore
off the Dream Machine,” said Tim Jr. “I thought we were fine for a second,
but the track was blocked and there were still guys coming behind us…
luckily it just tore the body off and didn’t really hurt the car to bad.”
After having the car
checked out by the Aaron’s Dream Team, Tim Jr. would head back to the track
and take the Dream Machine all the way up to the 14th position
before the checkered flag waved.
With a 14th
place finish Tim Jr. and the Aaron’s Dream Team finished 16th in
the Championship Standings.
